High School Girls Summer League Session 3 Recap

On Thursday the regular season came to an end for the 2012 High School Girls Volleyball Summer League at PowerZone. Last night's action proved to be some of the best the league has had to offer so far.

Montville once again came out on top by first sweeping Mount Saint Mary's followed by a 2-1 win vs. Morris Knolls. Montville finished the regular season in first place with a 16-2 record and will be the number 1 seed in the playoffs. Leading Montville last night was Bria Corham with 9 kills and 1 ace.

The number two seed in the playoffs will be Morris Knolls who was able to start the night with a sweep of Hanover Park before losing 2 out of 3 to Montville. They finished the regular season with a 14-4 record. Leading the way for Knolls once again was Amanda Faber with 14 kills, 3 aces and 1 block and Andrea Bush who had 13 kills and 7 aces.

Mount Saint Mary's was able to take 2 out of 3 from Hanover Park and will be the 3 seed in the playoffs after finishing with a record of 4-14. Leading Mount Saint Mary's was Kathy McEwen with 1 kill and 7 aces and Coleen Verdic with 3 kills and 6 aces.

Hanover Park's 1 win against Mount Saint Mary's will have them wrap up as the 4 seed in the playoffs after finishing with a record of 2-16. But they did play their best volleyball of the year last night, combining for 11 kills and 17 aces, a sign that bodes well for the squad heading into the post-season.

Playoffs will be held on Tuesday, July 17^th at PowerZone. The 2 semifinal match-ups will be best-of-three and will begin at 7:30. The championship and the consolation final will take place immediately after at 8:30 and will be best-of-five series.
